Frequently Asked

Questions

Answers to common questions, so you know what to expect before we begin.

General Questions:

I’ve never done a professional photoshoot before. Is that ok?

Yes. Most people I photograph are first timers. You don’t need any prior experience, just be you and I’ll handle the rest.

I’m nervous or awkward in front of a camera.

That is completely normal. Most peoples nerves drop naturally after the first few minutes of the session. There’s no pressure to ‘get it right’ or perform a certain way, the best photos are often unscripted.

What happens during a session?

Most sessions start with introductions and a pre-session discussion to set the tone and direction. (ironwood and wedding sessions have more in depth discussions prior to the session)

From there, the session unfolds naturally. I follow the flow of each session differently, adapting and improvising to suit you and the location. Allowing me to capture unique and candid photos of you and your inner wild.

What happens if the weather changes?

Weather is part of the landscape, especially in North Queensland. Storms, rain, cloud or heat can all add depth and mood to a photo, as well as make the session a unique experience. If conditions become too unsafe or unsuitable, we’ll reschedule.

Do you travel for sessions?

Yes. I am bases in Cairns, North Queensland, and happy to travel for sessions, including remote locations. I am also happy to travel anywhere in Queensland or inter state given enough notice. Travel details are discussed during booking.

How long does a session take?

Session times can vairy. The focus is allowing space rather than watching the clock. I have listed an average time for each session, but they can vairy.

Where do sessions take place?

Most sessions take place in nature (beaches, fields, rainforests, bushland, etc.) and are chosen in advance. I can also work in urban environments or organise more private locations with enough notice,

What should I wear?

Unless previously discussed, whatever feels comfortable and true to you. I can provide guidance on what to wear based on the location and theme of the shoot. Bloodwood and Ironwood sessions have the option for specific outfits and the use of props, as they are more stylasised and artistic.

What if I can’t make it or need to reschedule?

Life happens. Let me know of any changes as soon as you can and we will work out our best options. Any specific terms will be outlined during booking.

How far in advance should I book?

My availability varies, especially during the busier months. A few weeks in advance is ideal, although if you want to lock in a specific date, the earlier the better. I will gladly take bookings months in advance.

Boudoir Sessions:

Are sessions private?

Yes. Sessions are one-on-one unless otherwise discussed. Privacy, discretion and respect are central to how I work. Everything is safe and consensual at all times. When I can, I like to bring my Wife/Assistant with me to these sessions.

Are they for women only?

No. Although boudoir is typically a feminine art, male boudoir is rarely spoken about but just as stunning and impactful. Anyone is welcome to have a boudoir session, couples or singles. All genders are welcome.

What if I feel self-conscious about my body?

That’s very common, more common than most people think. My work isn’t about perfection, it’s about presence and embodiment. Most people find that once they get through the initial nerves and see themselves in a different light, their self-consciousness softens.

Can I bring someone with me?

Of course! As long as it is discussed prior to the session. For some people prefer privacy; for others, having someone nearby feels supportive. Whatever makes you feel the most comfortable during the session.

Is nudity required?

No. Nudity is always optional and entirely client-led. It is never expected or assumed and will always be discussed prior to the session.

Can I change my mind during a session?

Always. You are in control throughout. You don’t need to decide anything in advance. You can adjust, pause, or change direction at any point.

Will my images be shared publicly?

Only with your explicit consent. Nothing is shared without your permission, that applies to all my photoshoots.

If you are unsure about anything, you are more than welcome to contact me and ask. All questions are welcome.
